Philadelphia is the birthplace of America, serving as the nation’s first Capitol. This was the site of two presidential inaugurations and the first peaceful transfer of power from George Washington to John Adams. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were both drafted and signed in Independence Hall. And from this Hall, the Liberty Bell would ring to call lawmakers to their meetings and the townspeople together to hear the reading of the news. Today, these landmarks remind Americans of a time when we all came together and fought as one for independence and freedom.
The Liberty Bell's inscription:

Courtney Reed is a former Division 1 college athlete turned artist from Pennsylvania. She spent most of her life playing sports, but while a member of the Villanova University tennis team, surprisingly found her passion for painting after taking a required fine arts watercolor class at the university. Courtney believes her artistic ability is a gift that is meant to be shared with others. “When tragedy strikes you feel helpless and want to do something to help. I view this opportunity as a privilege by being able to paint this personal portrait and show the families of the victims that others care. With artists from across the world joining this project, it shows that even though something bad can happen, the good overcomes the evil with people coming together to honor and support the victims and their families. Art is truly a universal language that brings people together, and in this case, creates a display of love.” “I instantly connected with Carrie Barnette on many levels because she is not only a young woman like myself, who loved her family and had hopes, dreams and accomplishments, but also had a love for @disney, working at one of my favorite restaurants in @disneyland. Although Carrie and I never met, we may have crossed paths at that establishment without even knowing it!” In her portrait, Courtney wanted to visually tell a story about Carrie’s life by including details that had special meaning to Carrie and her family. The colors used are also meant to elicit feelings of joy, vibrancy and life while also expressing a sense of happiness and peace for the future. “My hope is that every time Carrie's family looks at this portrait they feel her fun, kind, jovial personality and that her spirit is always right there with them!”

She interviewed us on her @foxbusiness show, After The Bell, discussing our involvement with the Trump campaign as young women and business owners of @turquoisecreate. We really enjoyed getting to know Melissa because she is so genuine, highly intelligent and very talented!
